Luke at 6 months

Once again I'm late, but what else is new?!  Our sweet boy is growing like a little weed and changing SO MUCH these past few weeks.  It is always amazing to me to see how fast the learning curve accelerates at this stage.

At his 6 month appointment, Luke was 29.4 inches long (off the chart for tallness), and 20.4 lbs (85th percentile.  As I predicted, his weight gain is drastically slowing down as his height takes off, and he is beginning to stretch all those rolls out.  Still no teeth or even any hint of them, despite his incessant mouthing.

Clothes:  some 9 month sizes, but mostly 12 month for length; diapers Pampers size 2 during day, size 3 at night

So many new skills to report this time.  He FINALLY decided to roll back over from his tummy to his back, making his stress level much less, and thus mine as well.  All this time struggling with that task, and within 24 hours of acquiring the ability, I bet he had done it 30 times!  and of course this means that he is now technically FULLY MOBILE, because he can roll anywhere.  Yay for extra babyproofing!

His voice has really started to come into play.  For a while, it seemed like he had altogether stopped much vocalizing, but that all changed recently.  Now the ONLY way it seems he communicates is through very loud shrieks, squeals, and or screams.  This comes out mostly when he is either very excited or very frustrated.

Sitting up unassisted is getting better.  As of today he can sit completely on his own for up to about 1-2 minutes before losing his balance and falling to one side.  when this happens the infamous pouty lip comes out.  Adorable!

Crawling is just around the corner I can tell, because he spends a lot of his tummy time with locked arms trying to figure out how to get the legs up also.  He then will give up, lay on his tummy, and try to inchworm his way to something.  He surprisingly can make it a couple of feet this way.

He also had his first time in the outside swing, which he wasn't too sure about at first.

Biggest development though is the big boy is now eating off a spoon!  On his 6 month birthday, I started with some rice cereal.  now after two babies that could not stand the substance (one of which took 3 weeks to truly take any bites), I was all prepared for a battle.  Little toot mouthed the first bite I poked in, looked thoughtful, grinned, and popped his mouth wide open for the second bite.  Lee and I were truly shocked. It wasn't a fluke though, because since then we've added oatmeal, carrots and squash (the favorites), peas, green beans, and applesause.

Favorite games/toys:  playing "airplane", assisted high jumping off of laps, peek-a-boo, tickling, giraffe and "beeterfly" chew toy

Luke at 5 months

I'm a little late with this one (he was 5 months on the 7th) but better late than never, right?

Luke has changed so much this last month, really coming into his own.

*As of today, he is exactly 20 pounds, wearing 9-12 month clothing and size 2 diapers!

*Luke continues to be his happy, sweet, adorable, precious self.  He is still INCREDIBLY ticklish, laughing even as you approach him with "tickle fingers".  He is "talking" more and more all the time, and has now decided that squealing, shrieking, yelling is a fun pastime.  In fact, this month was the first time I've had to shush him when the girls were napping. He is also sucking and chewing on his fingers and toys a lot more.

Cute even when he's fussing!

He has had some MAJOR developmental changes in the last few weeks.  In order of complicating mommy's life :):

*(hear TAPS playing)  As with my 1st two babies, Luke has STOPPED SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT.  In fact, he stopped sleeping through the night within just a few weeks of when the other two did.  My theory, especially after this happening 3 times in a row, is that he is simply growing too fast and needs the extra calorie load.  Thus, I drag myself to his room 2-3 times a night.  Also thus, I am back to feeling like I am operating in a sleep-deprived fog.  Boo. He is, however, still incredibly precious when he IS sleeping.

*He finally is rolling over on a regular basis. (He rolled over once a while back but I think it was a fluke.)  Now we are playing the lovely game of him feeling compelled to roll over from his back to his front nearly the instant I lay him down.  Then he proceeds to fuss until you roll him back, and yes, you know what's coming next, then he rolls right back over and the process starts again.  AAAAGGGHH!  Here he is on rollover #2.  I of course didn't have my camera for the very first one.

*Luke is now 100% over being a baby and now is frustrated if he is not sitting completely up, or preferably, being helped to stand up.  We tried to use the Bumbo to help with the sitting, he was less than impressed.  In fact, he spent the entire time trying to stand up out of it...
*More successful, however, was/is the exersaucer.  God bless the inventor of it, wherever you are!

1st time in exersaucer.  This pose also shows his tongue out, which is one of his favorite things to do right now also.

*One of his favorite new games is "airplane", particularly if it's Daddy lifting him up.

*Favorite toys:  exersaucer!, giraffe "chew" toy, singing plastic snail, plush caterpillar, anything he can "thrash" like a rattle or toy that makes noise

*There were also lots of random fun 1st experiences this month, like first Thanksgiving, decorating for Christmas and his first snow!  (You can see it in the background; it was WAY too cold to go out.)

*There were also a few first not so fun 1st experiences, like getting really sick (Croup) and having to have his 1st breathing treatments. (actually at the end of month 4)

We had lots of great pictures with family this round.  Here are a few of my favs:
